Xperia Tablet S Selling at Sony Canada Website for $399
IntoMobile

The new Sony Xperia Tablet S will be available in Canada starting at $399, making the magazine-shaped tablet more than $100 cheaper than the third generation iPad. Sony Canada's Web site says that the 16 GB model comes at $399, and the 32 GB costs $499. The slate claims to be splash-proof and features a powerful quad-core Tegra 3 processor, an infrared emitter for controlling other devices, Sony's own ClearAudio+ technology, and a full-sized SD card slot. The tablet, which borrows the same curved, futuristic design of its predecessor, is scheduled for a September 7th U.S. release.

What Else You Need To Know

  • Other specs of the Xperia Tablet S include Android 4.0.3 ICS operating system, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi and 3G connectivity, an 8MP rear camera, a 1MP HD web camera in front, and a 6000 mAh unit battery (10 hours of browsing).
  • The tablet ships with the year-old Android Ice Cream Sandwich but will get its Jelly Bean update later this year.
