A full-color flip phone and digital camera with a swivelling screen and a tiny built-in flash. What sets the a600 apart from entry-level camphones is its display, which not only swivels and folds with the display exposed but also features 65,000-color high resolution, and its built-in flash, which is weak compared to a dedicated digicam's flash but makes a difference in dim lighting. The swivelling high-resolution display makes taking pictures faster and easier than with most camphones, but users who are rough with their mobile, or use their phone under harsh conditions, will probably find a way to damage it.
In most other respects, the a600 is the equivalent of a middle- or high-end mobile handset, with good audio, average battery life, support for Java games and downloaded ringtones and images, a 300-entry phonebook, and an ergonomic, highly-tactile keypad. Potential users should note that, while the a600 supports SMS and EMS messaging, MMS multimedia messaging is not supported. Similarly, unlike many better flip phones, the a600 does not have an external LCD for checking the time or incoming caller ID. Instead, it features a futuristic-looking LED indicator -- a design choice of style over functionality that some users will not be pleased with.
